“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Mat 10:29-31)

 Why should I feel discouraged, Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely and long for Heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me,
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Tho’ by the path He leadeth but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He cares for me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He cares for me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

    What is that verse about he holds the sparrow? Leave it to a mockingbird to be perched on the highest point possible.

    Thanks Erin for reminding me of this verse, I went in any changed this post today because I was a little upset about a few things that are going on. But this Hymn made me reflect on a few things. Thank you. 🙂

  4. Thank you so much for your super sweet comment. I know deep down that when God closes one door it’s to have you ready for the next one that opens… but darn it’s hard to see your children hurt… I have vowed to look at the bright side however and we’ll make a fabulous time of life… LOVE these photos.. It does remind us of what’s important.

    That hymn reminds me so much of my Daddy whose been gone since 1991. He loved to sing hymns in church. Didn’t sing very well, but loved to sing them anyway. Between the hymn here and the rain outside today, I’m sitting here crying my eyes out. Bummer. I’m blog surfing today and your blog is simply amazing.

    Thank you.
