Mom & I headed to Round Top for the Spring Show & had such a great time!!!!

First off my Wonderfully Talented friend Christy Tomlinson is at it again with a new online workshop!

She Had Three Hearts

 and on-line Art Journaling Workshop

an old Chinese Proverb reads, “ a woman has three hearts… one she shares with the world… one she shares family..  and one she shares only with herself.

In this art journaling workshop, She Had Three Hearts, I will help you explore the different “hearts” you have to offer and what may be holding you back from sharing those parts of yourself with others.  We will use journaling prompts as well as art techniques to complete pages and canvases that will dig deep into your creative soul and help you understand why we sometimes shelter those hearts that the world needs from us…as well as why it’s okay to keep some of those hearts only for ourselves. You will also learn fun new art techniques using watercolor pencils, alcohol inks, stains, wax mediums and more! plus I show you how to create unique texture using masking tape, sewing, and embroidery! I also show you some creative “out of the box” journal ideas using found objects, canvas sheets, chipboard, fabric.. and more. This is a 3 part class so new content will be posted each week for 3 weeks once the class begins, AND the great news is the classroom will be open for an 3 full months!!!  So you will have plenty of time to watch the video, download the PDF’s and explore the classroom! Most art and techniques taught will be in VIDEO form.

 One of the great things about my on-line classes is the wonderful community we have with all the students who take the class! Three Hearts will also have it’s own Community as well as a FLICKR group where you can share your art with other members and develop new and long lasting friends! I am in the process of taking Christy Tomlinson’s  She Art workshopI totally ADORE Christy and her workshop. She is wonderful at explaining just the right ways to look outside the box & use everyday items to add  depth & textures to your canvas!

I think that she did a video just for me {not really} On using found object, old paper tags, Emphera, you know all of that fun stuff that I have collected for Warrenton over the years!

I am having so much fun!

peach blossoms are always a welcome sight from a long winters nap.

We have started working on our garden, some how I had the bright idea to enlarge it. I am pretty sure that it is because of this:

the garden from the movie: It’s Complicated {LoVe this movie}

Although I’m not sure how realistic most of this is, I do have to say that I love mixing in cutting flowers with the a vegetable garden.  I also would like to recreate the tomato cages. I can not stand the little wired ones that bend & fall over…

I can honestly say that gardening has become a family affair, the kids really enjoy having a garden also, and I think that it is a great experience for them to learn more about what they eat. And, I think that they are more willing to try more things because they are excited that they grew it themselves…

I recently had a conversation with a very good friend of mine about an incident that happened to her 16 year old daughter. Someone made a comment to her saying {in a round about way} that she didn’t matter because she was not a … Cheerleader, on the dance team,  involved in certain school activities that they might be involved in… you know typical high school…

But at times this happens in the real world also. Sometimes in blogland, social networks, or even in our own neighborhoods. We tend to put self value on labels.

I must admit that I do this “self labeling ” to myself all of the time.

Homemaker, Mom, Wife, Photographer, Artist, Designer, Blogger…

 and sometimes I feel a little lost.

I get caught up in the lables…

& compairing myself to what others think that  lable should be…

But today i think that i will just be ME!

& see where that might lead… 

So today i say give yourself a little hug  & just be you!
